Ok heres the deal! I have a 55 that I am upgrading to a 90 this upcoming weekend/next week. It will come with a 90G aquarium, stand, canopy, sump, vho lights/fixtures, and plumbing. I have these things in mind, and if everyone can help suggest, ridicule or help me in anyway that would be just swell.

I have 100# LR from my 55G I will be putting in, as well as all my livestock. Now here are my questions.

Sand: Thinking the uncured kind from Home Depot, can someone show me a pic of there tank with this kind of "playground sand" or whatever its called? I just want to make sure it 'pops' as the regular aragonite does. I'm thinking about just seeding with some old sand from the old tank. (Just skim some from the top layer carefully)

I will be using nearly 90% of old water, then add new buffered saltwater to it, over the course of the day/night.

All fish will be in buckets with heaters, air stone etc., and a towel over them to not stress them.

Anything else I am missing here?

    Thanks guys!

I used new sand when I upgraded my 55 to a 125 and did use the Home Depot sand. Dont get regular play sand, try to get either High Desert Play sand because it is very white or you can try to find Down South (i think thats the name) which isnt quartz based. The quartz based sand may be able to leach silica into your tank which can cause diatom blooms.

I used high desert in my 125 and I think it looks great. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and only noticed a really small diatom bloom rihgt after I setup the new tank.

So you just seeded it correct? i want to insure I dont have a cycle because of the livestock. My LFS here said to use live sand, I did that with my nano and I had no measurable cycle.
