    Hey guys,
This is the design I came up with for my 75g build. Let me know what looks good and what needs changed please. All opinions are much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Yea I actually like the idea of one large tank for a sump/fuge combo better, it's a cleaner design I think. But I already have a drilled 20g and a 10g laying around so I figured I would use what i already have.
Hey, Bama, you're building a 75 now too, right?

Looks good. I would accommodate a filter sock, if needed, on the line from the fuge to the return chamber just in case you run into bubble problems. Or you could be extra cautious and build a bubble trap into that too.

As an overall design it looks great to me. I would potentially look up the "Herbie" drain method (you can google it) though, because I feel it's superior to regular standpipes and since it looks like you'll have mulitple drains already I would check it out. It might be worth changing your drains to avoid noise and saltcreep and extra bubbles in the sump, plus having a more redundant system.

I'm not familiar with the skimmer or return pump personally though, I would just recommend 5-10x max. your display tank volume flowing through your return pump per hour.

I would also doublecheck all of your dimensions because once you get a skimmer and a decent sized area for your return pump (so it doesn't run dry if you don't/can't topoff for a day or two) you aren't left with a ton of room for a refugium. I would recommend googling Eric Borneman and Dr Ron Shimek for more thoughts on refugiums, they have written a lot about various types of refugiums and various pros and cons of them.

    Thanks,Mike
I've thought about bubbles leaving the fuge, not sure what to do yet. I know there are mixed opinions about this but I kind of want to stay away from filter socks, foam blocks, mechanical filtration in general...minus the skimmer. Just more maintenence IMO. And wouldn't a filter sock catch the pods leaving the fuge and stop them from getting pumped up to the DT?

    Screwtape, thanks
I've read a little about the herbie method, but not quite enough to understand it I guess. Seems confusing to me but I've heard nothing but great things about the design. Maybe I'll look more into it, I haven't dropped the tank off for drilling yet so my options are still open.

I'm confused as to what you mean by not having enough roon for the fuge? The fuge and sump and going to be two seperate tanks. Maybe that's not too clear in the drawing?

You could add an underpass baffle where the fuge output goes into the return chamber.
