60g Cube *i want a clam*

added new fish and corals recently...



who says cubicles are boring?!?

 

thinking of adding a clam to the party...where should i put one? on the sand bed or up on the rock work? any particular kind that is easier than others? i know little about them so any clam knowledge would be great!

 

Placement depends on species, and yes some are easier than others. But with proper lighting and parameters, none are exceptionally difficult. They will increase your uptake of calcium however.

Squamosa is really hardy. My derasa clams are growing the fastest though. Some say crocea are difficult but I've never had a problem. I think maxima clams are the nicest as far as color goes. I honestly don't think you'll have a problem with any species. My crocea is the only one on the rock work.

 

awesome scape dude!! and i agree, a clown would be pretty freaking sweet.

 

I have some extra rock, I'll probably just bury the rock just under the sand and put a nice Maxima clam...I like the blue colors they have.

 

well, one of my bottom base rocks was growing a purple sponge that was starting to cover my zoas. had to take all my rock out to get that one rock out and scrub the sponge off. couldnt figure out how i did my aquascape so i changed it up and made two islands.


i made my fish a bit angry but hopefully they are ok with it
