    I was given a nice 55g,
I know that often all panels are tempered, and some 55's not.

This is the tempered warning sticker in the bottom, which only states the bottom is tempered, doesn't mention the sides.
I don't have polarized glasses, and probably won't get any either.

    Your thoughts on the sides?

Also, the stand it came with, would you use it in your basement as a sump, etc., or would you build another beefier one?

My 55 says tempered only on the bottom too. The back ended up being tempered as well.

You just like to hear the sound of breaking glass!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for

If I knew the manufacturer, yes.

Thanks to all for these replies

If it was manufactured in Wisconsin (Oak Creek on the label) it came from All Glass Aquariums. Id personally guess the back was tempered and leave it alone, no sense breaking it if you could drill elsewhere. Depends what you want to do with it. Funny how one of the biggest tank manufacturers is so close to home right? lol

Thanks Norg, as in drill elsewhere- I think you mean drill another tank, right?
I think the yellow label in the pic clearly states 'Oak Creek'. Is that Aqueon? I thought they were actually in Franklin? None the less, I don't think I'll drill it anyways. Do you have a pair of polarized glasses?
It's looking like I'll have to go external to get the volume and flow I think I want with the new set up.
I may be drilling the double wall plastic container I have as my future sump to go external.

So, anyone using the stock stand like in the picture for the 55?

    Any stand failures?
