If you go to wal-mart and get silicone it can and will wipe out a tank. Tanks have a different type of silicone than you use around the house.

Please, before the tang police bark at me for putting a tang in a 55 gallon system, let me explain...
I bought my blue hippo two days ago, it is doing really good in my system. It is 1 1/2" long (same size as my clowns). I understand that I am walking a fine line with putting this fish in a 55. As it matures and gets bigger, I will most likely put it on Craigslist for FREE TO A GOOD HOME. Who knows, maybe I'll have a bigger system in the future and able to move it there.
Does anyone agree that this is a good plan???

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

At this time the size of the fish is appropriate for the size of the tank. You're well aware of the need for a large tank down the line when the fish gets larger.

If the fish looks healthy, has adequate room for it's size I see no problems. There is a place for reminders regarding min tank requirements for tangs, but this situtation does not apply, you have a handle on it.

    :)
