    So i got
    55g tall tank
    2 fluorescents (came with hoods)
An AquaClear 70 power filter with bio-media
    Hanging thermometer

Thought i would share some pics. Tanks just got water (conditioned) for now, but some pics are better than none right? Getting a heater and sand and salt next week;maybe. If i do i'm hoping to start cycling.
I've heard people say they use table shrimp? How does that work? Can i use my mollies and my eel to help cycle or is that overload?

understand those lights wont support much besides some fish, i dont know about coralline under those lights. So a FOWLR tank is what you going for. (Fish Only With Live Rock).

Is this a fresh water or salt water tank? As far as the cycle for salt water at least, it's best to use a small piece of shrimp, and only 1 piece or 1 small damsel. I don't know much about freshwater.

id start by adding live rock and a few inverts personnaly. i think the way the shrimp works is it decays and lets algae n stuff grow and let it get nasty. im not sure though ive never done it myself

Maybe I am not looking at it correctly but (from the pics) it looks like the left side of the tank is hanging off the stand. it needs to be supported or you run the risk of it busting.

It's a full marine, And not going to start coral for a while, just getting started and saving up some cash for a protein skimmer, heater, power head, new lights, and lots of rock. My other tank (10gallon brackish) is going to be lifted from 1.015sg to 1.022ish in the time my new tank cycles. So inverts are good for cycling?
    And thanks Yamaha,
I'll definitely have to push it up on there, didn't know it could break! And BTW i ride a Honda CBR 600RR ;-) or my XR-80.
About adding live rock, I've heard you can buy LR and mix with dead rock. The dead rock then becomes live while cycling? How much rock would you suggest to create a nice aqua scape?

Can i add a gallon from my 10 gallon established brackish, to help kick start the cycling process? I'm adding a piece of table shrimp tonight, or should i wait to cycle till i put in sand and rock? I'm hoping to buy DS and add a bit of LS, same with my rock.
