Hey guys I currently have a 55 gal tank and my current stand is falling apart so I am about to build a custom stand, however I plan on upgrading to a 75 gallon in about 6 months when I move into my own house, my thing is I don't want to build a stand now just to have to build a new one when I upgrade... so how can I design my stand to accommodate a 55 gal with a 75 in mind?? any help is sincerely appreciated ;D

You could build it to fit a 55 now and then just add 5 inches to the width of it for a 75 gallon. You could even build the piece for the 75 right now and whenever you need it just screw it onto the stand.

you would basically need to build a stand around a stand. build one to fit a 55gallon and then build one larger for a 75 that goes around the 55 stand. The tanks need to be supported by the 2X4s that are going vertically. If you can wait I would wait, because it would probably make you take op more room inside of the stand.

I would love to be able to wait but my current stand looks like a pos and the bottom 3 supports look like the wood is warping, I just dont know how much longer it will hold :p

damn that probably is that best way to do it :p, just seems like a pain in the ass having to make and inner frame and an outer frame with supports on under both :p

Make the extension in the back then you won't even see it if you wait to "skin" it later
