I do not think the light will be intense enough to support SPS at the higher elevations on the rock.

Even the closest I could get the corals to the bottom of the light is over 30" - the tank is almost 4' deep!!! The lights are only about 10" above the top of the tank. I think the only way to support sps that deep would be to go with a TON of 40 degree optics LEDs and/or 400 watt light upgrade (which is not likely to happen).

Maybe some monticaps or other lower light sps might make it - but the depth of the tank is a lot to work with . . .

The naso tang is a really hardy fish. My dad has a 7" naso for a long time now.

NIce looking tank. glad I stopped in.

you ahve a TON of real estate to work with. I would say you could easily do 4 tangs in that tank. get them approx the same size as that blue and you would be ok. Purple tangs are tough buggers, at least mine is. They are Beautiful fish and lots of personality. The Sohal is also a WONDERFUL fish. and when they get big, they are amazing. mine is the boss of the tank and the purple is the enforcer. I also have a Naso which are great fish as well and are Very docile. both my Sohal and Naso eat from my hands. the purple is just too high strung to get close yet. Hope you dont mind, but here are some good photos of them. all are very fat and happy.
the Sohal is a good 8" or so. naso is about 7 and purple is 6. Keep in mind, that big fish =big fish poo

photo is a little washed out, but it is a stunning fish.

Pickupman66 - if anything THANKS for posting the pics!!! Who does not like to see pics of healthy, happy fish!!!!

    Your tangs are BEAUTIFUL!!!! WOW!!!

    Quite a statement!!!

Yes, there is a TON of real estate to work with and we are still pretty understocked (IMO) - so there is certainly room for a tang or two. Especially a large one.

ATM I would have to be leaning toward either a purple or blonde naso - they are both so stunning . . . oh but then there is still the Achilles tang . . . .

geesh - you guys are making this so hard with all these beautiful fish!!!! :)

Since the tank is so large, I would say that either a Purple or Achillies will work rather well, keep in mind that Purples tend to be more aggressive with all fish, and Achillies only with other tangs. Personally my Achillies harldly ever bothers any fish but the Purple, only because the purple harasses everyone! The Achillies should easily be able to deal with the Blue tang, just make sure you get an Achillies around the same size as the established blue tang. That tank is awesome, and believe me the more out in the open swimming nature of the Achillies will be amazing. Purples tend to hid in the rockwork and are less of a swimming fish if that makes sense.

Here are some updated shots of the tank. The frogspawn was looking really good so I figured I would make the best of working on Christmas Eve and post some pics for all to enjoy!

The Linkia LOVES to spend all his time on the glass right in front of the 3250GPH Hydor MAGNUM 8 powerhead!

The last pic of of the new torch coral our fish guy picked up. It had a barnacle in the one head when it came and it's sweeping it's tentacles all the time now!

Here are some new shots taken with an underwater camera!!! Pretty neat stuff!! It does not feel natural to submerge a brand new $300 piece of equipment in the water!!!!! But as you can tell - it does what it's designed to do!!!

    More to follow . . .
