Here are the general sizes clams can achieve in the home aquaria:

    Deresa - 20"
    Maxima - 12"
    Squasoma - 12"
    Crocea - 6"

I don't think the 20" - 12" clams would fare well in a small tank

With good animal husbandry, plenty of food, and sufficient calcium, I think this is definitely doable as I've seen clams that big at the Aquarium of the Pacific. They were broght in as 3"- 4" specimens and over the years have really grown.

Would this be members that are currently active? with 20 posts cuz I only see a max of 50 poeple posting and it would really be a shame if someone over a year ago had 20 posts but won the clam. ;)

Like someone said the larger the water volume the better for stability.

Matt, regardless of how long its been since they posted, they contributed to this board and community with their posts PLUS your including them in the count. Exclude them, you mise well delete them totally from the running, ie. delete them from the members count needed to achieve the goal. I think it should be left as is, 20 posts to qualify, period.

I agree with Nuatilus but see Gresham's point. My concern is someone who has abandon this page but we are counting them and still have ways of contact-email and such. The 3oo goal is rightbut the parameter also states 20 posts can it be amended to at least 1 post of the 20 has to be in last 30 days? I can't see how anyone in this hobby can't find at least one thing to comment on this website. to be fair a topic can be added to notify of the rule change and if you don't post you are out. You keep the 300 goal and the 20 post but make sure everyone is interested in the site along with the clam.

When we reach 300 members we could send out a mass notification that there is a one month period to reach 20 posts, for new registered members, and a minimum of 5 posts in the month for those that already have 20 posts or more. This way only those that a truly active and contributing to the board would be eligible. What are the comments from tthe peanut gallery on this possible approach.
