I have an old 35gal hexagon aquarium from my freshwater days. I was thinking of setting it up in the front room upstairs above my 90 that is in the basement and just plumbing it into the same sump so it would all be in the same system, making water changes and stuff more convenient. This would be an sps dominant tank with very few fish..... My concerns are 1. acrylic tank making it more difficult to clean the glass. 2. lighting for it. I would like to go with an led type pendant light that I could hang over it but with the depth of the tank I think I would have to do halides with leds for the actinics. 3. I think it may be hard to aqua-scape it. not much space on the bottom. 4. I read it is hard to get good flow in a hex tank. I would think it would be easier but I have never tried.

anyway I would like to hear your comments and thoughts, and if you would set it up or not and why.
    Thanks for any input.

All a matter of choice. I would personally not if your doing SPS dominant. and I also think (and again just my opinion) that I wouldnt put any naturally active swimming fish. I woulndt put any angels, tangs anthias, chromis, maybe only clowns, gobys, and other fish of that nature, that dont require much swimming space.

never thought about that. seahorses and pipe fish..... only thing is I think they would want lower flow then I would need for sps.

thanks for the idea, maybe i could do that instead of sps then I wouldn't need the strong lights either. I'll have to think about that.

yeh, slower water flow and maybe do like a branch forest, like gorgonians and sponges. No lights would really be needed, except maybe a tiny led light simply for viewing.

if you do a seahorse tank you cant grow corals.. ive never been a fan of hexs, but if i had it at my house then i would be setting it up with something..

a dwarf octo would be cool...im bout to be setting my old 30 gallon up as an octo tank..

Don't know about an octo, it would be cool, but they are escape artists.... probably wont go with sea horses either, hard to take care of as far as feeding.
