Ok, so the 8g nano has been running for 3 weeks now and there is a lot of life and movement on the LR. One question that I have is what the heck are these little white critters that are all over the glass?, look kinda like a baby spider, thats the best description I can give and I don't think they will come out if I take a picture of them, way to small. This GO SLOW LET IT GROW philosophy is COOL I am watching a small piece of reef come alive. The bug has bitten:cheesy: and I need to stay away from the LFS so nothing can "follow" me home. Thanks for everyones help since I started.

Sounds like it might be a Copepod or however you spell it....very good for your tank.

The little white thing is probably a copepod or amphipod . resist the urge to bring anything too expensive home from the LFS too soon :) a cheap damsel could be nice though :fish:

I am taking this little reef very slow. There was the urge at first to start dumping stuff in but after finding 3reef, reading the posts asking a lot of questions and getting some great advise. I am taking the go slow let it grow attitude.

The only problem I have right now is the NO3 does not seem to be declining still at 10-12.5 everything else at zero. I figure a few more weeks cant hurt.

Yeah, just wait a little longer. I also agree with Reefdiver72 about the damsel. If your tank was bigger than maybe yes, but if I were you, I would get something else. Remember one thing Skytech, you have to get something that can be comfortable in a 8gal nano. While your waiting for your tank to finish cycling, do some research on what you can have in it. everything sound normal, def. give it a few more weeks. 8G, wow, wee little things. I second the "no" to damsels. I did that with my first tank, harrassed every fish I put in after. I had to dismantle the tank to get those little bastards out..

Wait a bit longer, a small tank with such a small amount of water may take a bit longer to have lower nitrates...Nano tanks of this size tend to be a much greater challenge then larger tanks since things can go wrong quickly...With Nano tanks, you should also monitor your levels more frequently..Also, I agree, no Damsel....8)

Contrary to what your LFS may tell you, waiting a while longer will greatly improve your chances of success. I have had some LFS tell me 2weeks to cycle (which may be o.k.) but another store told me 6wks which is more or less the minimum time to wait.
