Well, Another 20 inches of snow yesterday, ended around 9 last night. It took me a few hours to clear my driveway (about 200 foot of driveway) with my snow blower. Then I had to clear the mother-in-laws, and then it was time to rest….except on the way home I saw an elderly man struggling, so of course I did his driveway….ugh, finally home and utterly exhausted. Heading to my favorite chair to sink in and relax finally. But on the way past the tank I realize its still – ruh roh !

To the basement to inspect the sump – main pump has seized up, bummer. So I pull out my spare – always be ready right. Hook up the brand new pump, yup – doesn’t work ! aarrghhh

I saw my coralife skimmer was also not working, yup – pump died. What the heck ! damn that Murphy !! MarineDepot to the rescue ! dropped a heater in the tank and tossed in an air stone and will get an overnight delivery tomorrow. Ordered a new pump, a new back-up pump (that I will open and test!) rather than buy a new pump for the super needle I upgraded to an Eshopps S-200 Cone – might as well try out a new toy :)

44.3 inches of snow in one week for Philly is a LOT of snow (for us anyway) and there's more on the way for Tuesday.

Update – been resting, and I gotta tell you I am whooped after all day of clearing snow.

Ellen just rang my doorbell and introduced herself as Ira’s husband (elderly gentleman whom I helped earlier) -- she dropped off a plate full of homemade chocolate cookies as a thank you. Apparently Ira has some health issues and shouldn’t have been out there in the first place, she was appreciative and hooked me up with some goodies. Very cool.

It was $200 in over night shipping charges for my new pumps and miss Ellen just made my night and I no longer care about the cost of my new pumps and shipping 

Good man. You know you probably made their week or even month. I know your luck with the pumps will be better from the good deed you did. I have a soft spot for older folks since I was raised by my grandparents. Thanks for helping out your fellow man

Parents live in Cape May, NJ and they got 29 inches of snow. Just like Philly, anything more than an inch or so is out of the ordinary. Good thing they had shovels from their old house.

Have you even been to that aquarium store by the "stadium" exits right by that little cheese steak place...I feel awful not remembering the name...it has been years since I went there. It is right by the place that sells the crab fries....well...i'm a disappointment.

    What pumps did you order?

I keep a spare HammerHead pump that I found for sale for my spare too. Nice to have the extra pump in case it is needed.

I too clean all my neighbors driveways including the widow down the road. She usually brings a Rhubarb pie by a couple weeks after.... :)
