The last 2 months i have been using the recommended amount of rowaphos for my system in a tlf 150 reactor, this works out to barely a inch of media, after this time is it possible for me to double the amount say 2" of media, i have been battling cyano and it has subsided a lot but that stubborn film still accumilates over a few days on the sandbed, my theory is in doing this it may give it that extra kick it needs to help eradicate it all together.

    Thanks guys and girls ;)

    Found this info.
Removes 12G of phosphate per kg of media:

100mL - Removes 1ppm phosphate from 630 gallons of freshwater and 315 gallons of salt water
250mL - Removes 1ppm phosphate from 1580 gallons of freshwater and 790 gallons of salt water
500mL - Removes 1ppm phosphate from 3160 gallons of freshwater and 1580 gallons of salt water

If you are stll seeing Cyano then you can add more then recommended but I would not double it.I would just add a small amount at a time until the cyano/phosphate disappears.

An alternative method is the three-day blackout.

Cyano can be difficult to eradicate through nutrient deprivation alone as it is highly efficient in how it stores and converts different types of phosphorus into organic PO4. One thing it can't live without is light. Three days with lights off, your cyano vanishes and your GFO removes the phosphates released from the die-off.
