    You should be fine, I live on the third floor of an apartment built in the late '70's. I have 2 75 gallon tanks plus a 40 gallon sump and 26 gallon refugium with reef tank that are in a smaller area than your two tanks and all is fine.

    Another way to find which way joists are running is the run perpendicular to the roof line. If the roof is like this /\ joist normally run like this _
