All my work is coming together.I started 5 months ago with a 20 gallon glass tank with a hob filter and a power head.I have since upgraded and now have a cube tank and all my stuff is finally coming together and is consistently happy. I am gonna start adding more coral now. as far as livestock all i have is a baby engineer goby(who is looking for a new home) and a clown.I have lots of snails and crabs and a little hitch hicker star fish and a VERY healthy supply of pods( those things look like from another wold) in my refugium i have a hunk of live rock and some macro algae. And the carbon cartridge from my hob filter( mainly to grab large particles). No protein skimmer yet and am finding it hard to see why i need one? (input welcome )

As your bio-load increases watch the surface of your water. You'll soon ( if you don't already) see an ugly looking oily substance floating. That's the reason for a skimmer ;) it's called protein.

Looking very healthy in there so far Dinkanber

those corals seem to be doing very nicely

a skimmer is a very usefull addition to any reef tank set up and as stated above
the higher your bioload becomes, the more benefit you will notice and appreciate from the skimmer IMO
