hey guys have a few questions.

Setting up a 20 long and was curious what i could keep under my setup

    which is 2 30" coralife 36 watt T5 fixtures (72 watts total)

seeing how the tank is only 12 inches deep, if i used a DSB of about 4" that would put all my corals and rocks a maximum of 8" away from the lighting.

would it be possible to keep any SPS besides monti's?
idk what the par output for these types of fixtures are.

i also have 2 old ****ty t8 fixtures that have a coralife actinic bulbs in them for additional blue :p i think its around 30 watts. idk if that would even be a factor or not, its more for color lol.

yeah i you should be able to grow anything but a nem, and i still think you could you would just have to have some experience of how they look if it was not getting sufficient light

your sps may not have the colors like if they were under a 400watt 20k halide but will do fine i think..i have a 20 gallon with a 110 pc..and will be putting a 2x39 t5 when i get the mounts i have posted on here and it will be plenty of light to house all things..

you shouldnt even need that deep of a sand bed if you dont want it..i only have a 2" sandbed, my lights are about 5" from the water..putting the sand bed from the lights 15"

well the only reason i was gonna do a dsb was i was gonna get a baby reef lobster or possibly a mantis. i work at the LFS around here so i get clean up crew for dirt cheap.(10 cent ceriths and astreas ) i dont mind restocking if my mantis takes out some of my snails.

ok well yeah, i thought you were using the dsb to get the corals closer to the light..

i thought about turning my 20 into a mantis but not sure yet..if i get one then that the only thing i can put in there..still debating

ive had a mantis before. he was a g smithii. totally awesome. he never had problems with the fish i kept with him, and he never touched the corals i put in there. i put my whole 8gal biocube stock minus the cleaner shrimp in with him and he didnt do a thing except take out some snails. i know some will take out fish tho.

lol could you look into led bulbs that would be plenty of light and you could adjust them accordingly forthe corals.

well we sell the "reef capable" marine land LEDs but ive heard mixed reviews on those. ive been looking into the LEDs that look like a incandescent light bulbs, but i noticed they have a special 2 prongs on the end of the socket. how would i go about doing that? i know with the DIY led you have to get a driver. do the mogul style ones need special drivers and sockets as well?
