oceanparadise1 I am sorry but I really think that your way out of line here, everyone has an opinion and obviously you do not agree with them but thats what makes live so wonderful!

And Craft kid21 you're wrong too, your right they are fish, but they are living amimals and IMO they have feelings too, just like a dog or cat or you too.

But I love it, once again the real question was can I keep a "Yellow and a Sailfin Tang together" Not "can I keep tangs in a 55"! I know I will most likely her about this but here is my answer to keeping tangs together. I have seen in so many places and tanks the tangs you asked about living together very happily with out any problems at all.

I have a 3" yellow, 3" Kole and a 4" Hippo tangs in my 75 Reef. They are all Fat, Happy and get along swimmingly and have for almost 2 years. I introduced the Kole a little over a year and a half ago using the breeders net below. Since that time I have had absolutely no issues at all. Once they all get to the point that they are to large for my tank I will remove them and take them to my LFS and trade them in, most likely for smaller versions of the same fishes and start the process all over.

There are several ways to successfully introduce new fish to an existing tanks. One way, not always possible or the easiest is to rearrange your aquascaping. By rearranging the scape it forces the existing fishes to re-establish their territories sometimes enough that it takes their mind off the new fish. I have used this many time when introducing new Clown fish which IMO are one of the most territorial fish there are. Now this is not always successful but it does work.

The second and easier way is to use a breeders net, but the commercially available nets are usually to small for a tang and do not afford a clear view of the fish. So I build my own using 1/2" PVC which is available at most Home centers and Seine netting which I purchased on-line but are sometimes available at local Fishing stores. I bought the 1/4" netting but for larger fish you can use 1/2" netting. For larger fish I recommend making the net at least 8x8x12, this gives them room to swim around and afford lots of viewing area for the existing fish to see the New Kid on the block.

Using the breeders net in my opinion is the best for several reasons. If the introduction is not successful you can easily remove the fish and take it back to the store without any damages at all. Secondly as I said sometimes its not possible to rearrange your tank, with the net you do not have to do it.

Hope this helps you out with your question.

I don't know what your talking about Phil. Fish have absolutely no feelings whatsoever. I kept about 10 different species of tangs in my 3 gallon pico for almost 100 years and they did fine!! Not one problem

    ...............What a joke!........

Hey guys, seems we've really gotten off subject. We're all adults and have answered the topic question. Is there really a need to continue with the jabs?
