you dont need to upgrade, lets just say when they get around 6 inches, give them to your LFS for a small one. and just so on.

Before i started putting my noise to the grind and researching everything I did. I got suckered by my lfs to put a yellow tang and blue hippo tang in a 29 gallon tank. I lost the blue hippo after about a month and my yellow tang started to go south. I rushed him to another lfs and he survived (so happy he did)... just my 2 cents......

That is horrible advice and you should keep it to your self.....dont put two tangs in a 55 its not healthy for them!! Tangs use ALOT of oxygen...they produce a a lot of waste.....just bc its alive in the tank doesnt make it right and doesnt make it happy.....yes 5 people can live in a 2 bed room apartment and be alive...doesnt make it right and doesnt make them happy.....this is the same thing.....

Taking risks is fine. It's when lives, animal or human (other than the taker's), are at stake that information needs to be put out there, and that the people taking the advice need to listen to all the opinions, not just the ones that reaffirm their belief that the risk is OK.

I mean, I'll be straight up here: I used to use forums to find a reassurance for something I was going to do anyway, and ignore the 20+ responses that didn't fit what I thought. As it turns out, the 20+ were right, not the 1, in nearly every instance.

Just a word of caution from someone who has been there, and done it, learned and moved on.

Same here, But 3Reefer's know what they are going. Glad I ran into this site if not I would be a big fail in salt water/reef keeping. 3REEF #1!!!!

That being said I'm planning on moving soon like in a 1 year or so, So I'm planning on upgrading to a 90 gallon. Will that be good for a Hippo tang & a Yellow tang?

Hippo's actually get pretty big. So I would say probably not in the long run, if possible go bigger. You can always find amazing deals for tanks on craigslist.

I would advise against putting 2 in a 55. If you get a small tang, I would see no reason not to put a single in a 55 though.

I have a 110g and have 2 tangs in there but in my opinion that is the absolut minimum size for 2 of them... they are active swimmers and need a lot of room, so if you put them in a smaller tank, it would be like locking them up in a small room...
So, always take the adult size of a fish into consideration! I know it's tempting to get whatever fish you like at the lfs but please be considerate to the animal!

dude they are fish, not humans, fish dont have feelings, they dont really care! i can understand putting a tang in a 10g but a 55g they are fine, so piss off. have you even been to a reef? they are stocked with louds of thousands of fish, if you keep your water changes up and stuff then your fine, ive been doing this a while. and ino what im doing.

WOW.... strong words... but never mind, if that is your opinion then what can I say.. but for me my fish are beings that deserve the best environment possible.
