IMO, i would not but a tang in a 55 period. They produce a lot of waste.....while they are small okay but still i would not do it! Two tangs in a 55, well you better have a huge skimmer do lots of water changes and be ready for a down turn in your tank unless you really keep on it. With that being said they will out grow the tank FAST!

And i cant believe i even have to type this but one thing you should NEVER EVER in a million years do is put 4 tangs in a 29 gallon tank

I have the same positive outcome in the same sized tank with the same 2 fish that Xistence describes

    in the spirit of balance

I had a negative experience with a small sailfin in the same sized tank with no other tangs ( it was smaller than my flameback angel when I got it, it was happy for 3 months and it died without a mark on it, no visible parasites, no strange behaviour, just a perfect looking dead fish)

many people can post success stories doing things outside of generally accepted principles and guidelines

problem is , most people do not want to share any negative experiences for fear of being criticised

so we will end up with
    lots of
"yes its fine I have done or am doing it and its working out"
and a load of " you should not do that because its not right"

    in other words
we will get a lot of positive experiences but very few actual negative ones

nobody likes to share their experiences of failures

I didn't take any offense to that. I love animals, so it's more of a compliment :)

Either way, no harm was done, so hopefully no harm, no foul :)

Yup, some people are risk takers in life, some are not :)

I would say they are both 3", I know they are going to out grow it so when they do I'm going to do an upgrade ;)
