2 tangs in a 55

    I have a sailfin and 2 clowns in a 55 would it even be possible to keep a yellow tang and a sailfin together i know its not recamended. But my frined is moving and this tang needs rescueing. Will they most likey fight eachother and one will die someone please help me out.

    I hate to be the "tang police", but your tank is undersized for your sailfin tang alone, nevermind 2 tangs. I would definitely not recommend another tang for your tank, and would strongly advise you to reconsider the sailfin. Sorry - I love tangs too....but they need their space

    I agree, you could get away with a smaller YT, but not both.

    Quite a few people in the hobby keep yellow tangs in a 50+g. Their probably the most suited out of all of them besides the Ctenochaetus side of the tang family. Because of their smaller stature. Putting a sailfin and a yellow tang might be asking for trouble in general unless added at the same time.

    my sailfin is very small right now and i would upgrade in the next year but could i just hold the tangs in the 55 for now or would they fight?

    Sailfins and Yellows are from the same genus, and have the same body plan, so I'd say it's extremely unlikely you can do it.

    Eh Even with an upgrade youre looking for trouble with a yellow and a sailfin. Granted sailfins are a bit more passive in my exp, but Yellows are a tad more aggressive.

    So its pretty much impossible my sailfin was added just last week so hes not very established.

    Its possible. Just probably not the smartest Idea. Because of tank size and compatibility.

    what if i kept a hippo tang with the sailfin. Would that work out better cause he also has a hippo tang he has to find a home for
