    Good to hear and thanks for the feedback.

    Most of my scape is glued, so I'm putting each frag on a smaller piece of rock that I can move around. I won't be taking the nepthea off that rock, but wanted to make sure I had a strong enough base for it. Sounds like I'm good to go. :)

    Hello 3Reef! It's been a while...

    Thought I would put out a little update now that the summer mountain biking is over and I can get back to my tank. A video link is attached. My video camera isn't the greatest, so the video and color quality is mediocre. But, it gives you a flavor for how the tank is progressing. It's been pretty neglected this summer. :)

    I do have a question on the Bird's Nest. I've had it in there for about 2 weeks. It lost all the flesh and polyps on the bottom shortly after I put it in the tank. It's glued to that piece of base rock with superglue. I know the image quality isn't the greatest, but do you think it's just burn from the glue or do I have RTN setting in? As you can see, the polyps on the branches look great. If a burn, what are the chances it will heal?

    pH = 7.8

    Temp = 79-80 deg F
    Nitrate = 0
    Phos = 0
    RO/DI make-up

    Thanks for any input and help.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Tank is looking great.

    How is the Dotty back working out?

    Big tank with relatively small fish.

    All the corals look healthy and expanded.

    Thanks.

    Dottyback is working out fine. I was nervous about aggression, but read that the Orchid is the mellowest of the Dottybacks. My wife and kids wanted something with more color, but my travel schedule isn't conducive for high maintenance fish like wrasses. So, thought I would give this a go. The blenny was a little peeved when I first put it in as the dottyback hangs out in one of his favorite spots. That lasted just a couple of days and now they hang out next to each other. :) I've yet to see the dottyback go after another fish. It was the latest addition however, so it didn't have an established territory before the others were added.

    Regarding small fish in a big tank, I wanted to keep the bio load relatively low as my work/play schedule isn't the greatest for diligent water quality maintenance. My plan is to add a yellow tang (kids said we need to have Dori or Bubbles), and that will probably be the end of my fish additions.

    Any thoughts on the exposed skeleton of the hystrix? Think it will heal?

    Thanks. I got really lucky and hit the right spot in the tank. It had that kind of polyp extension within a couple days of putting it in the tank. It's been there since September of this year. It was an established colony when I got it, but it has added 4-5 polyps since September.

    just a heads up if you didn't know already,, that firefish is a jumper so make sure you have a top or a canopy and if there's any large openings in the canopy find a mesh or something to use to close it up

    i love your aquascape by the way everything is looking good!

    Thanks for the heads up. It does have a complete cover on the top.

    Oddly enough, the only one I see hanging out at the top of the tank is the blenny. Sometimes, he'll swim along the top with his "antennae" sticking out of the water. It's pretty comical to see when I open up the access to feed them. :)
