What do you use to move a fish of size or bigger? Just scoop it up in a bucket?

I would upgrade to a 29 or better yet a 30 long....the longer the tank the better for the tang

I just put my 4 inch yellow tang in my 29 gallon quarantine. He's use to being in a 120. He's so upset he just lays on his side on the bottom. He gets up to eat then lays back down. Hopefully he'll get over it or I'll end up going and getting a big plastic tub to put him in.

is there anything in the tank for it to hide or swim behind. if not then this is most likely whats wrong. put a plastic bucket in with it, anything for it to hide in or behind.

what he is doing is normal Tang behavior, when they lie on one side they feel protected. if you put a rock in there it will most likely put its body up tight against the rock with its head and tail wrapped around it.

I am not saying that they will not get stressed, hell any fish moved from one tank to another will get stressed and tangs exhibit more stress than most other fish but it will not KILL them and if given enough time they will adjust to their surroundings just fine. Then when put back in the display tank believe me it will start all over again.

    I agree a 4" tank would be better suited to a 29 gallon tank than a 14.

I've got a big plastic rock in there that he lays under. I went and bought a good size pvc pipe for him to go in but he won't. I even moved him into it and he came out, went back under the plastic rock and layed down. He gets up to eat so I'm not really worried at this point, but he definately doesn't like being in the 29.
