Been a while since I updated this log. The tank is thriving now, with quite a few number of livestock including dwarf angels, butterflys, tangs, etc. I ran into a bout battling cyano, but it looks to be under control now. I now have 3 forms of filtration with the live rock, built in wet-dry bio balls, as well as the protein skimmer (which i finally got to work correctly). I'm starting to plan on a larger replacement tank over the summer of 2010, which will then morph into a full blown reef tank.

    Thanks everyone! Been fun!

Unfortunately, it's only a simple Bannerfish....I'm not experienced enough to play with a Moorish (tried to keep a Copperband...unsuccessfully, as it almost starved, before i returned it for the banner).

Just a slight update. Was away on business for the better part of one month. Had my sister take care of the tank for me, but unfortunately she couldn't watch it everyday. We had a couple of storms pass through knocking out the power a couple of times. This killed my heaters (both of them), as well as my skimmer, which in turn killed a couple of livestock (strangely enough, only the butterflys). When i got back, I had another huge diatom bloom and i can tell all the fish were really stressed out. Managed to get everything sorted out now, and the fish are starting to slowly eat and play again (they were hiding in the rocks for a good couple of days). This scares me, since i travel a lot, so now am contemplating a UPS backup.

That sucks to hear. I don't think the butterflys dying is strange at all, they are some of the harder fish to keep and are not known for being very hardy.
