yea the guy that sold me the tank doesnt even have all his compact lights running only two so i am thinking i have to change lighting systems . i got this tank because of the potential i have to build a nice reef aquarium with what i got from the guy (he sold it to me for 1k everything including chiller and livestock) ;D. i need to get a cleaner crew for the algae, live sand and a couple of pounds of really nice rock covered with coralline. also a new rodi because the one he is giving me looks nasty i mean the guy really didnt take care of the tank.

well i'll assume you have 4x96w power compacts you could savage those and use them for actinics or blue bulbs. and add 2-3 150-250w MH lamps. you might have to make the wood canopy a little taller but at least you already have a chiller. Aquarium Lights Hellolights.com has some good price stuff, ive been looking at myself.

probly not since likely the ballasts are for pcs. sounds like you got 1 bad ballast and 1 good. double check your wires and make sure the wires connections from ballast and to bulbs are tight. sometimes I thought my ballast was bad but ended up being a bad connection at the end cap.
