Well not to be a Debbie downer. But I am a Dad and also a reefer and feel your pain but to avoid this in the future Like I always tell my kids If you had your on house you wouldn't have to put up with my dumb shxt. At least you are getting a new one.;D:;D:;D:;D

 

I am really really honestly upset, like it really is just like... wow. I don't even CARE about the siphon ( well it does push my WC back a day :/) its just seriously that they care that little I have tried I asked them recently if they wanted to watch my coral eat, they said they could live without it which also upset me I have tried to share it with them, they just think its a waste of money and an inconvenience. They look at the tank I guess when they come in my room. It's just not something they care about..

 

haha I would love to move out, if I do however they won't help with college tuition. Which means I can't afford school and rent + food they like to keep me here.. so yup, oh and I would loose the car too. Kinda stuck.

 

That's unfortunate that he did this...kinda sad that they don't care one bit about what you are doing though. :-/

They won't let me move out, I mean of course I could Im of age but if I did they would get pissed not pay for tuition take the car and I would be stuck working 40 hours while trying to go to school and have a butt load of student loans to pay off.

 

Like I said not busting your coral but your dad cutting up your siphon isn't the end of the world does he make you pay for the water or electric you use. Suck it up get a education move out some day and have a nice house-life and a sweet tank and be happy. The other day my Dad, 70 years old says to me after we were at his house for pie for my sons birthday and after I was telling him that the zoo's in my tank are poisonous he said Why do you have them and I said because I can. Gotta love your parents.

 

I know I know its not the end of the world, Its not really the siphon I just wish he would care a bit more about it and realize its what I love! Its really not about the siphon it can be replaced easily. it just hurts a little that he didn't notice..;I don't think he did it on purpose he would never, but three years is awful long time to be doing water changes lol. Its okay though I borrowed my friends down the road and its way bigger hehehe.

 

That sucks. People make mistakes. At least he owned up to it and is willing to replace it.

 

It's amazing how much time you can spend on something and someone in the same house still has no idea! I have had fish tanks for nearly 17 years now.. I think my parents didn't know I even had one till I they came by my place last week and saw the 210 gallon. My mom keeps asking me "what if this is just a phase" then your stuck with all these fish... 17 YEARS!! I had one in her house from the time I was 11 till 18 when I moved out! I just laugh and wink at her. She has no idea what I think is so funny about it.
