i was thinking about setting up a 10g fowlr. My thoughts were to use some fully cured rock and crushed coral from my 3 month old 55g fowlr. And for live stock, a few assorted damsels and a percula. I still consider myself a beginner, is this setup difficult to maintain?

The smaller the tank is, the less stable it will be. The percentage of change in a 10G aquarium is much greater than compared to a larger tank. Example would be 1G of evaporation would mean 10% in the 10G tank, where as in a 100G tank it is only 1%. Nutrients in the water hold the same rule, so concentrations of NH3-NO2-NO3 rise faster percentage-wise in smaller tanks when you have a heavy bioload like you are asking about. In a 10G tank, you are pushing it with even one small fish like a percula, much less an assortment of fish. If you can, go with a larger tank, like a 20, and just put 2 clowns in there. Traditional damsels are very territorial and can become mean to tank mates.
