take it from a Floridian that a generator is a MUST! i live 5 min away from the beach on the east coast of FL Ive lived thru every hurricane, tropical storm, depression, etc. since 1996 and believe me that bad boy has been fired up on several occasions. and sometimes when a nasty storm rolls thru. There a little pricy but you could rent one too.

Thankfuly I did not lose my power, but three miles south of me did and still doesn't have power. Last night four counties to my west, here in southern Indiana, the school reported gusts of 105 mph, with baseball size hail. That storm went 5 miles south of me and closed schools and did a lot of damage. pretty rough night, been fixing livestock fences since three this morning. The winds were only 55 mph at my house, however we did receive a total of 7 inches of rain in less then 24 hours. It was over 80 degrees yeaterday and 45 here now.
