the reactor media changes color when it s exhausted, soak it in clorox solution to regenerate it or recharge it.
for coralline algae to grow you have to have the correct balance of calcium, alkalinity and mag. i bought the bulk stuff from bulk reef supply....
you should be checking alk and mag. i wouldn't waste money on phosphate test kit just go ahead and assume that you have them and run a gfo reactor.
