An update: We got a reply from Dr. Joshi, and he is willing to test the fixtures. We will set one aside for his testing in the next couple weeks, when more fixtures come in.

If it's me, I send multiple models. Might as well get the data for all the units. I mean how much would you have to pay a lab to bench test your product, mapping distribution, spectral output and PAR? Congrats on getting Sanjay to test them.

I'm still trying to find out how the rumor started that Sanjay is sponsored by MH companies? Anyone willing to speak up?

Yes, that is why we are waiting a little while, we have a new test unit coming in as well, with some more new colors.

I was under the impression that he wasn't "sponsored" by anyone. Companies have sponsored certain tests, but I think he's about as independent as it gets. If anything the sponsors at Advanced Aquarist would be considered loosely his though I wouldn't call it that either. I'd also love to here where these rumors are rooted at.

That too is the way I know it. I just hate to see someone make that claim and discredit his work as biased when it is the furthest from that!

    Hi Guys

    probably just a misunderstanding
    Alex is Ingtar Shinowa
he mentions J Fox, S Tyree and Sanjay in his post above
indicating that they use MH as they work for them ( meaning MH work for these people and not that they work for MH companies)

he then went on to describe about these people have a brand (named corals) and as such consistency is important to them

this may be true with 2 of the 3 people mentioned but as far as I know, Sanjay does not have named coral morphs and as such does not need to stick with any particular lighting in order to maintain a certain coloration etc

I do not believe Alex meant to group Sanjay in with that last aspect

    Steve

    Thanks for that clarification Steve.

Here is something funny about Jason Fox. Jason used MH and T5 to grow and color his coral, however he uses LED to sell those same corals at aquarium shows.

Steve Tyree is so set in his ways, he won't change unless someone forces him to. He has the same stuff running his tanks for nearly two decades. 400 watt MH, pumps and live rock. Nothing more. He does no dosing, no skimming , no other form of filtration other than live rock and the sponges that have grown over time

I guess I wasn't specific enough. Thats exactly was I was stating thanks Steve. I do know however, that Mr. Wright is sponsored by Gerber Foods, so do not trust any baby food related carbon dosing threads he releases.. Its a shame sir.

I wouldn't change either. I guess my point is that unless a couple hundred bucks a year will make or break the hobby for you it doesn't matter as long as you can gorw healthy stock. (DISCLAIMER I have no Idea what running my tank costs as far a electricity. I just like hooking computers up to my lights and playing god WHAHAHAHA)
