The RAD Custom 140 gallon starphire aquarium was a nice peninsula tank that by itself was certainly deserving of being the MACNA Sunday Grand Prize. So you have to give praise to Boyd Enterprises and Reef Aquaria Design for absolutely loading it with a one to two year supply of various goods, livestock and top notch hardware. They even shipped the massive instant reef tank to the winner's house free of charge. Kudos to them. My favorite part was the thick aluminum 'light sail' that held the Radions. Pulleys and a counter weight kept the light level. And the whole fixture easily swung away from the tank as well, making maintenance a breeze. Details below.

    About RAD

I'd be pretty intimidated building a 140 gallon aquarium, but I bet it hardly phased Jeff Turner of Reef Aquaria Design. The man has been designing and building aquariums for over 30 years. Big tanks for the Smithsonian and W Hotel to name just a couple. Check out the portfolio on the RAD site.

Small world! Ask her how she likes it next time and tell her she is on 3reef. :)

I'll take that as a compliment Tom. ;D

I added the dimensions of the tank above.... they are 60"x24"x24".

When Jeff got up and spoke about this prize, he said the retail value was over $18,000, actually. :D

I definitely had some tickets in that box.

First I just thought the tank/stand was the price and I thought that was amazing, but then I noticed it came with over $2000 in state of the art equipment and my jaw dropped!

It's an awesome tank. I'm sure she'll be pretty happy.

Talk about it ::) Along with the guy that won the Tanked tank and 3 pairs of designer clowns :p
