They should get along fine. If you do decide to get a clown goby have the LFS show you him eating something other than pods. If you get one that is still only eating pods it wont have enough in a 30 gallon.

Its a small crustacean that lives in/on live rock. It takes a long time to get a good enough pod population to support a fish that eats pods. Some gobys get trained into eating other foods such as frozen mysys or brine shrimp but if you dont see him eating it before you buy him you could be slating him for death. How old is your tank. These should always go into well established tanks.

Pip- I had a Yellow Clown Goby in my 55g Reef with two false Percula Clowns and she died of malnourishment. Despite my strenuous observation of feeding and varied diet she was unable to compete with the fierce hunger of her tank mates. I know she was feeding off of some pods, but in the end I highly recommend waiting until your tank is much more mature and you have provided PLENTY of hiding spaces for her (YCG's like to hide in acropora/false acropora decorations or any corals that have "branches." Hope this helped- if you have any other YCG questions, please, feel free to ask as I am very familiar with the species.

So the consensus says "No, wait until your tank matures," haha

I personally wouldn't add anything reliant on copepods until your tank is about 6 months old, such as Mandarin Gobies, some Wrasses, some Blennies, some inverts, etc.

but like mike said before..if whatever you want is eating food other than pods..mysis..brine..whatever..then it isn't really reliant on the pods and you could probably do okay with it
