Sorry no photo, I'm away from home.
So was chatting to the charming lady at home tonight, when she informs me that a tenticle looking worm sort of something had come from out of the sand almost 4 inches long and then sort of shrunk back into the sand ?

Yellow ish in color, 4 inches long, about the size of a pencil.

Any ideas on what the heck this is ?

Yellow-ish in color sounds like a spaghetti worm. But the are fairly small and I do not think that is what you have here.

My best guess would have to be a bristle worm - a good sand cleaner for your tank.

Bristle worms are great members of your clean up crew. Not really a huggable creature, but beneficial.

It could be a peanut worm. They live in the substrate or rocks.

so is a peanut worm "ok" or bad ?

And again, this thing is pretty gig, why wouldnt the Gorilla crab eat it ? he managed to catch and eat my Golden Headed Goby without any problems at all.
