Do we have a good thread on controllers?

I am ready to buy. but what one to choose.

I like the price of the reef angel and the functionality of the apex.

Whats your opinion and what do you use yours for?

I have been looking at alot of controller options and APEX IMO is the way to go I have read super easy out of the box setup and expands rather easy also.

I like Apex but im unimpressed with their 4 outlet power bars. I would like it better if it was 8.

Apex Lite and standard are 8 outlets (Energy Bar Eight), you may be looking at the new Jr. model that's coming in August I think. The Jr. only has 4 outlets but is expandable

    more info:

    EnergyBar 8 Features

The EnergyBar 8 module features 8 independently controllable outlets. With power failure detection, active electrical current monitoring, and failsafe features make this power bar far better than any competing units.

8 independently controllable 120V Outlets (Max 5 Amps, total current must be less than 15 Amps)

the discription say's it can handle hundreds of probes. How many probes are their? What would be multiple pourpouses?

Probably for someone who has a multi tank setup and wants to use one controller for all.. Not necessarily 100 Different probes, but many of the same ones, on different tanks.

Also, if you have a fish room setup behind your tank, there would be probes for your tank, you could have a frag tank in there also with probes for that, and a saltwater mixing/storage tank with temp and salinity probes in there as well as multiple float sensors for all those tanks.. Etc.. Etc...

    All controllable by one system.

    The possibilities are endless.
