    OK thanks I guess a little more research and then will decide wont have tank till July. My son is picking it up this weekend but wont see him till then so I have time.

    your rock work changes everything. Make sure your rock work is open enough to have good flow through it. You will have to experiment to see that you do not have any dead spots. Some corals will not appriciate high flows and you will have to place accordingly. Pretty much no coral appriciates being blasted from a fire hose. That is not what we are going for. After all that is taken care of... then you can "fine tune" with randomness, or wave actions, or on/offs and reverse flows, and all that is determined by what you are keeping and where it is.... so that is why it is really hard to say yes/no to such a broad subject.
