Thanks for the input everyone. I think Mox is absolutely right and the click is the Prop hitting the stop. I also agree that I would rather have them come on backwards then make the clicking noise and drive my Tang bananas!! According to Lilly's Granpop he is actually only having the issue with the 1050's not the 1400's. I just bought two 1050's....Figures .lol
Surprsingly he is using the Redsea WM which is supposed to be a soft start.

Must still be too much impulse from the pitch of the Evo props. Gnarly.

i have one 1050 but it's not the evolution, those are the ones that should be good to go with a wavemaker...

i cant stand that clicking noise - it scares my fish. and yea my powerheads are the loudest thing too, i have two jbj oceanstream 500gph hooked up to the jbj wavemaker. if I put my ear to my tank it sounds like a jet is getting ready for take off. when i do my next build i'm going to aim at a super quiet tank, i feel like it's sooo stressful for them to always live with that deafening noise

    According to Hydor's website.
Yes. The Koralia Evolutions are designed for use on wavemakers.

There are several possible causes of reversal in the Koralia Evolution.
    1. The bushing that sits inside the black wing of the impeller may have slipped down. If this has occured, simply push the bushing back into place. You can also contact Hydor USA Customer Service and request an upgraded bushing that snaps into place, preventing slippage.
    2. The front cover maybe damaged. If your cover is damaged, you can contact Hydor USA Customer Service and request a new cover.
    3. The rubber bumper on the inside of the front cover maybe missing or damaged. Hydor USA Customer Service can supply you with replacement parts.
    And finally.

Is it normal to hear a click when the Koralia Evolution starts-up?

Yes. You may hear a slight clicking sound when the Koralia Evolution starts-up. This is caused by the impeller resetting itself by hitting the rubber bumper on the inside of the front cover. Removal of the bumper will prevent this noise but, without the bumper the Koralia Evolution can run in reverse.

This leads me to believe it is easier to remove the bumper then add a washer because you are essentially acomplishing the same result.

Good stuff vinny. I'm a few weeks into using my wave maker and 90% of my corals are showing positive growth from the new flow. Using the hydor smart wave with 2 evo 1400's. There was a small clicking in the beginning and still a faint one now. My fish definitely reacted to it the first few days, but not even a flinch now! I'm sure your know this but there's only 2 output plugs for the hydor so you'll have to get a splitter. Hope this helped

    Vinny,
Get the tunze 6206..I am trying to get one myself but can't push the "purchase" trigger due to the price . Apparently from those owners that have both MP10/40/60s and Tunze wavemaker the Tunze is quieter.

Thanks guys but I kinda want something that will control the Evo's that I already own. I may go with the Hydor if the Redsea still has the same issue starting these PH's I may as well save a little money. I will probably just try to remove the bump stops and see how much of a reverse issue I encounter.
