Does the SG of the mixed water match that of your tank? If so, I'd say yes. If your tank was dominated by SPS, or corals with a high degree of difficulty to keep, it would be a good idea to match the calcium, alk and mag too. If you have just softies and fish, IMO matching the salinity is sufficient.

I'll test it now, But I do have a couple of SPS will the w/c effect them?

Depending on the coral, a wild fluctuation in a certain parameter could be disadvantageous. They'd probably live, but with SPS it's always good to match the water for each parameter over which you have control.

Maybe someone with more experience keeping SPS can offer an opinion based on that experience.

i have a 55g with 20g sump. i do a 20% w/c every other week. i don't even test but once every two weeks right before i change the water. it has been awhile since i have felt the need to check it after the w/c. during the weekend i don't change the water i usually add my buffer to keep my calcium ph mag constant. i know my tank so well by now i know what to add.

I know this sounds terrible, and hopefully I'm not making any enemies here, but I don't think I've done a water change in over 3 months .

I've just had so much going on that, to be honest, haven't even thought too much about it. Even worse, I've been doing all of my top-offs with tap water :loco:. And haven't tested for anything in months either. I gave away all my fish to a friend, other than three small damsels. But I still have all the corals and verts. And they are doing just fine, honestly maybe even better than ever! When I get home everyday I drop in a few pellets, top off from the kitchen sink, and nobody's been complaining.

Terrible, I know...I used to be very meticulous about bi-weekly water changes, testing every few days, and getting RO water for top-offs.

Of course I would advise against all of this, but in my case all seems to be working out just fine :p.
