I have a salt water nano tank. Is it necessary to do a weeky water change ?

That depends. Probably not "necessary," but water changes are beneficial.

Do you have a FOWLR or reef? Are your parameters as stable as you'd like? Do you have any algae issues?

Your answers to these will help you discover the frequency with which you should change your water. Generally speaking, though--the more frequent the better.

+1 on above reply for me
always been a 10% per week or 15% on any week after missing a change (holidays)

may be more than is stictly required but its habit I have gotten into

biolaod as stated above makes a big difference as does the quality of skimmer you use
    and the method of filtration
those that use a lot of chemical media and make additions probably feel less of a need for frequent water changes

Me too, Steve. I do 10% every week to ten days. My parameters are great and the water looks pristine now, so that routine must be doing something!
