OK, so, I've been lazy and haven't set up the cabling right. Well, it almost cost me big time today. I cleaned up my protein skimmer, and because I hate it sooo much, it decided to overflow while I was out. Of course it ran down into my power strip and you can see the results...

Luckily all I lost was a power strip and a Korela 1 PH. Good thing I have an extra. Think I'm going to make an overflow mod to my protein skimmer. And yes, I've already replaced the power strip and utilized the drip loop technique.

GFCI most likely would have prevented that ...

ground fault circuit interupptor. if you had one, it would have kicked out the cirxcuit once the water hit the plug or power bar. imo, a must when dealing with water and electricity in close conjunction.
they are installed on your panel, or as a seperate receptacle. some power bars i think have them built in too.

That'll pucker up your rear a little. I came back to my apartment when I had my 30 set up and it was a bit smoky smelling (electrical kind, ya know). I had the same thing happen, power strip had gotten saltwater in there and it was all charred. Pretty bad. I still don't use GFI's, probably should, though. Glad to see all is well.
