But you can order the same light from aquatraders.com too and they have a lot of options as well... From what I hear they are kinda cheaply made but most reefers are happy with them. I ordered a light from them for my tank, it will be here thurday!

2 reasons that make me cautious:
    -716w fore that cheap
    -"kinda cheaply made"

Do a ton of research before purchase...there are numerous high end units running lower "w's" that have proven results, precision engineering, and are worth the hard earned money you are shelling out...

Thank you for all the opinions and suggestions but my question was would it be too much light for a 70 gallon mixed reef?

In my experience yes. I have a high quality 4 bulb T5HO on my tank that I keep 28" above the sand and am seriously considering raising it up a couple more inches. If you keep the fixture 12" or more above your tank then it would be OK I think.

It would be fine as long as you PROPERLY acclimate corals to lighting,, plus you can keep whatever you want in there at any depth.
