Okay, so I was doing my random checking on the pico 5.5 reef I have and I noticed a worm like dude who acted like a elephants trunk. It was coming out of the rock and eating the surface od the rock... it would strectch half of its body length. I looked it up and im pretty sure it my be a "Chaetopterid Worm" but i have no info on these guys and was wondering what yall think?

i would love to get a free starfish with a piece of live rock! most organisms will be neutral or even beneficial to the tank. your goal to a reef aquarium is to make a miniature ecosystem. and without some small organisms, the ecosystem may not last. if you are concerned about a harmful organism you can take the rock and soak it in a bucket of salt water with a salinity of 1.035-1.040. mostly everything will not like the salinity and come out of the rock. leave the rock in for 30 seconds to a minute. put the rock back in the tank. most of the organisms should now be in the bucket. pick what you want in your tank and dispose of the other ones.
