So I am building a 180g system... I have a skimmer, light fixture, stand, RO/DI unit, space, extra money....

but the tank I ordered >3 weeks ago still isn't here. I'm getting frustrated. I won't name names, but the company that's building the tank kinda sounds like eh jee eh. Their distributor has sent 3 trucks my way with plenty of tanks for other people.... but not mine... and it's driving me (and my LFS buyer) nuts.

    I WANT MY TANK!!!!!

So many other things can wait, but without a tank I can't start cycling, I can't buy my rock/sand. I can't make water...

    ARGH!

I know a key to this hobby is patience. Patience I'll have, once I have a tank.

Anyways... another weekend will go by looking for other things to do... maybe I'll install my RO/DI.

Sucks they are taking so long. If you get all of the other things done that don't need a tank it should make putting up the tank less stressful.

Im guessing you've at least called/emailed right? If anything they can give a reason why there is a delay.

Oh, the LFS I am buying through spent 10 minutes yelling at the poor guy from the distributor he uses. Apparently AGA makes their larger tanks as ordered, not really "custom" built, just as they get orders they make them. They recently had a big sale, and I understand things are backed up a little bit. Standard size stocked tanks are shipping no problem, but the 180's and 210s that are a normal "stock" sizes aren't... no one seems to know why.

I haven't called AGA as it's not directly my order.

Latest I heard is that it will be here on a truck Wednesday. This will be the 4th truck full of tanks since I ordered the tank.

Anyways.... I keep buying things for this tank as I see stuff go on sale, or learn about something new, or the LFS guy runs a sale... but I'm at a point now where I have most of what I need to set the tank up, minus the actual tank.

Still looking for a local with a used 55-65g acrylic tank for a sump... but aside from that, I'm just going nuts looking at all the related peripheral items missing their DT.

Anyways, thanks for listening (reading) my venting.... Tank should be here Wednesday. if it's not, I'll probably look elsewhere for the tank.... LFS is doing all they can, but they're somewhat limited in who they buy from.

Why can't you buy the rock and sand yet?
I would suggest getting 90% or more of the rock as dry base rock and not wasting any money on "live" sand at all.
I get all my rock and sand from marcorocks.com but bulk reef supply and reefcleaners both have comparable selections.

Not at all a fan of base rock. Aside from the density it's really an aesthetics consideration. I'll use some here and there for the unseen foundation of my aquascape, but mostly I'll go with semi-cured live rock.

I have a great LFS with 2 large stock tanks full of good live rock to choose from, for a decent price. As a local small business owner I do all I can to support others in my area, so that pretty much settles it for me.

As for sand, yeah, I'm going to buy dry agronite and seed it with sand from my 58 and some "muck" from the live rock tanks.

No reason I couldn't get a small stock tank (already own 2) and start curing rock and sand... but I'm just gonna wait.
