Has anyone on here used ZEOzym? My main DT has been set up for about a year and is connected to a smaller tank which was my DT for 2 years which now has caulerpa sea grass and other seaweeds and jellyfish. I used to use tap water, with carbon treatment and sugar to try and remove contaminents and I changed to RO about 6 months ago stopping the carbon and sugar addition. My tanks have cycled through the different algal stages, after changing to RO I added GFO media, I have quite a heavy bioload and my nitrates have gone from around 30mg/L to 2mg/L and my phosphate was always around 1-2mg/L and is now at 0.5mg/L. I paid the price for using tap water. I was constantly getting a build up of green algae on my glass (like a film), checked my light cycle last week and it was 12 hours main lights 14 hours actinics, I have reduced it to 8 hours main lights 10 hours actinics which seems to have drastically reduced the algae. Over the last month I have a small amount of cyano (very black) patches on my sand.

I am wanting to start vodka dosing to further reduce my nitrate and phosphate levels and start ammino acid/phyto addition (and add some SPS when nutrients are completely reduced), but have heard that cyano will feed on the carbon from the alcohol. Would I be best to use ZEOzym to remove my nitrate and phosphate without adding the carbon source, then use vodka later on? or just add vodka and see what happens?
