 :( Sorry to hear this, grinder...I hope to see the tank up and well again sometime.

One more here, with a Marineland Stealth Pro(me). Should I rid of mine too?

Sorry to hear Grinder, sounds like a good plan for recovery.

I feel your pain. A couple of weeks ago my heater in my 20g tank decided to stick on. My tank was also at 96 degrees. The only things that survived (besides a little bit of GHA) are 2 Brown Palys, one Caterpillar Weed and the coralline algae on the rocks. I'm now in the process of slowly restocking.

Thanks everyone, now that i've slept on it,i'm kinda looking forward to this fw plan until the urge hits again, but in the meantime,i'll still hang around ;)

And @ Seano-no,i believe it was just a fluke, any make, brand or model heater can fail and this one just happened to fail at a bad time(for stealths).Like mentioned earlier,I thought i had a reg marineland(the reg glass type) in there,so I am in no way bashing the stealth line, just one of those things you never think about till it gives you trouble.I just wish it stuck off as opposed to on,with a baby in the house,we keep it pretty warm and i'm pretty sure the damage would have been far less.

Oh,and i found my marineland heater in a box of tank stuff :)

I am really sorry to hear this. Way to look on the good side about your algae problem though - that made me laugh.

On a serious note - your thread just really drove it home that today I need to pull my 150w stealth and I am probably not the only one after reading this. So thanks and good luck with the rebuild.

    matt

    Lets do it.

Thanks Matt, looking at this light heartedly is helping me deal with it a little easier.

And I agree, how many more threads do we need to see about these heaters?,I have 2 50watters,i will keep the good one,but as i mentioned on another stealth thread,i will only use it to heat my water change bucket, the bad one is already in the trash.I will not trust it in any of my tanks. My mistake was forgetting that I had it in there,so people, check your heaters and pull those stealths!! All though, bashing stealths was not my intensions for this thread,I can't argue the fact that there is a problem with them.
