I support local businesses when I can, especially when they provide exceptional service. Here is a recent comment about one of my LFS's that I would like to share. This isn't out of the ordinary, just they way they do business.

So, please support the businesses near you that do a good job, and care about our hobby. ;D

I wish more LFS would realize just how important quality customer service is to their business! Too many LFS going and gone out of business and for here, those that didn't make it were notorious hit and miss with taking care of their customers.
I don't expect to have them kissing my buttox, but at least treat me like my business is important to their business, because it!
A LFS like the one above would have my business for life!
    Customer Service Rules!

We only buy local, as opposed to the last time I had tanks I only bought on line. Livestock we buy only from one location, and he knows exactly what's in our tank & we usually spend at least an hour there just chatting with him. It's also great to go in & hear him tell people if something won't work for their tank and why or that they need to come back in a certain amount of time after buying a tank before they get livestock. His prices rock, too.

When we did our initial fillup of our tank we purchased 15+ buckets of saltwater but could only carry 9 at a time in our car so we had to make 2 trips. It was Sunday and the store was closing at 6 but the guy said that he will wait around until I come back to get the rest. I was shocked because saltwater is only 1$ a gallon and he was only making about 5$ by waiting around on a Sunday. Great guy though and we've gone back to him quite a few times for various items.

I have a few LFS around me but I only go to 2 of them, one I use for most of my supplies and the other for live stock, food, test kit(sera), knowledgeand soon my LED's. I support local as much as I can.

My LFS is AMAZING!! They have been such a great resource and friend since I started my tank! I have learned so much from them and now enjoy debating them over the semantics of husbandry techniques. I will pay what ever the cost to buy from them. The only time I order elsewhere is when there is either a ridiculous price reduction or if they can't get it. I will also by from other hobbyist though.

One of our local stores here will actually trade you fish for fish if you are having problems with the fish in your tank(Not sick though). Which has been a big help since I'm new to the hobby. There has been a couple of times where they wouldn't even sail me a fish saying that it would die or not a good mix or whatever the reason being. Most places don't care and just sell them.
