I love asterina stars! They are so cute. Mine have not exploded out of control and both my aquariums have been set up for at least two years.

I just realized I have a yellow watchman goby that hides under a rock. Do you think that he'll eat the asterina?? :worried2:

I pulled 9 off my LR just the other day. The rock is spotted white where they ate the coraline off. The ones I pulled where of the blueish grey type. I'm wondering if they change color according to their diet???

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    There are hundreds of types.

Confirmation of exact type is even difficult for marine biologist.

The number of arms means nothing of value ID wise. Coloration does sometimes, I would be weary of any blue or red ones.

Most found in the average aquarium are simple algae or coralline eaters, others however can either be opportunistic feeders eating zoanthids or predators of corals.

Unless you actually catch one in the act of eating a coral I would assume it's either a coralline or algae eater.

Here you can see the star just right of the zoa and the white spots on the rock are the damage thats been done by them. No big deal really. Personally i don't like em :)
