Plumbing my 200 this weekend. Just wondering if you guys think I should do a spray bar. Or my other option is four regular 90 degree elbows for the inlets. What ya'll think?

I voted spray bar but only because I prefer more sources of flow than the alternative of 4 gave me

I would rather have more inlets in a 200 and not need additional PHs

I like what I have seen/ read about the 8 way

Well, the glass on my 200 is tempered, so no drilling or closed loop. So my options are fairly limited. And the return here isn't really being attributed to the flow (at least not in my mind). I am going to be running some form of wavemaker for that.

I'ld say 90's - because there is more options. I always use teflon tape inside of the tank and sump so i can re-use the pipe and not lose a fitting while i'm trying to figure stuff out.

I use the spray bars and Like it. But I use the spray bars as a "wave maker" or a form of circulation b/c I dont like having all kinds of PH inside the DT. Hope that made sense. Luna

My question is, will the 4 elbows be connected in any way? Or would they all be seperate, independant returns scattered along the back of the tank wall? I'm holding my vote until you answer this. :p

You say the glass is tempered.... just the bottom usually is. Is it a Perfecto?

Well, if you have the elbows scattered along the back of the tank in different positions, I vote elbows. That way, you could have maybe two facing upwards to add in some surface turbulence to help with gas exchange and keeping away surface goo, and then you could use the other two or whatever to help the powerheads with flow.

I don't know about some people, but our return from the sump plays a pretty good role when flow is concerned. It's the main circulation, the powerheads just get rid of dead spots and help the more complicated and high maintenance corals get their goodies. I'd recommend using it that way...or if you go with the spray bar maybe dedicating it to being pointed at the surface?
