we all know its all in the water. which is better and why?

    1) regular city water through a ro/di system to the tank
    2) regular city water through the houses water softener then the ro/di system to the tank

It's better because it's 2 step filtration. Water softener will take care of permanent water hardness chemicals : calcium bicarbonate, magnesium bicarbonate, and other general hardness contributors (GH). This will definately extend the life time of the membrane in your DI/RO unit, and shift (just by a small fraction) the end quality of RO/DI water, assuming you are pumping your water at maximum allowed pressure.

    Cheers!

Well! You should not expect any KH in the water from RO/DI or household water purifier, assuming your units are working properly! RO/DI water = 0KH!!!

I have installed hundreds of huge water filtration system in factories and labs and such My son now running my former business did a multi thousand GPD R/O D.I U/V Ozone system last yr also have done more water/soft home use systems then I can recall . But until a yr ago I've never heard of a Kold sterile But I'll never go back to a R/O d.i they just remove all of what you don't want.. We use water from a deep well at the shop 380 ft and its loaded with Calcium and carbonates . DKH from the tap is 18 and Ca is 600 + and we use the K.S and it removes none of the elements that Ii have to add .. No waste and the small 3 chamber unit gives over 20,000 gals with no waste and 3.5 GPM. so unlike the R/O and D.I there is no need for a storage tank it makes water faster then the average kitchen faucet can handle they average less then 2 GPM and with the restricter I always toss out the newer faucets deliver less then that about 1 GPM . After I use up all the stuff I now have for our home treatment system I'll be changing to the K/Sterile here as well. R/O and D.I strip the water thats why its not good to drink it. Per the health experts

It meant Good not God :) I guess I was having a spiritual moment ?? :) And if use of the word offended anyone ? I really don't care Thats about as P.C as I get :)

Yup! That's it ! It's really not healthy! I dilutes out all ions in the body. It may cause so called hypertonia!

Thats why I always had any home owners to sign a disclaimer that I had explained and had given them and they had read and signed it long before I installed a system for them.. for their Ice makers and such and especially if they wanted me to add a sink faucet for their liquid needs . One contractor I knew from our apprentice school and helper days was sued . And any commercial systems I installed for industrial use that was always in the contract that it was not intended to be used as potable water . Cover me and my insurance provider's :)

understood camilsky, but adding a buffer to soft water or hard water will produce a different dKH.

The DKH carbonate hardness level's are what make's the water hard .
