Is this a minireef with a built in filter in the back or is there room back there for skimmer?

I am tempted to suggest a Remora. Mine fits perfectly on my 10 gallon sump. But there are cheaper options for a tank that small. Just don't get a Prism, they are damn loud.

I second what Matt said.... I have a prizm and there are ways to lower the noise it makes but its still very loud.

you could get by with out one. An 11 gallon would be easy to control pollutants by water changes only. a 5 gallon water change every two weeks would do the trick.

Get a bak-pak skimmer. They are cheaper than the remora, but still work pretty nice. They hang on the back of the tank.

Check out www.aquatraders.com, they have a copy cat of the bakpak skimmer called the propack for 1/2 the price. The resemblance is uncanny. It makes me wonder if they are manufactured for them by CPR.

It's a chinese knock off.  CPR products are made in California.   Do a search on that company (Aquatraders.com), many people seem very angry after dealing with them. They have an ebay shop as well.

If you go with a Bak Pak, get rid of the RIO pump. Mine worked a lot better when i switch to a Maxi-Jet 1200. Soon replace the entire skimmer for a Remora.

I'm partial to the Remora's too.  They work well & are fairly quiet, especailly the smaller remora.  If you go with the remora  get the maxijet pump not the rio. If you want to go the cheap route you could get a skilter and modify it with an air stone, they work better that way. A few of the LFS here have these set up on nano tanks and they work well for them but nothing larger.

I say no skimmer too. Okay one thing everyone seems to be over looking is that in a tank that small with a HOB skimmer the output would turning over the tank like 25+ an hour. It not like most skimmers have wavemaker built into the output.
