I have a chance on buying a Viper HQI Clamp lamp 70watts for a good price. I was thinking about using it on my nano cube 12gallon DX do you think this is a better idea then using the stock lighting

I figure if you have the $$ and it's a good(really good, too good to pass up) buy, then buy it! You never know, you might need it in the future! Just MHO. :)

I wouldn't worry about it.. It wouldn't hurt though if you could rig something up......

It really depends on the color of the MH bulb and how you want the tank to look. The selection of 70W halide bulbs is fairly small so you may end up needing some actinic supplementation. Can you fit the halide and the stock lighting in your hood?

cant use both cause I have the nano cube so I would have to get a separate one for the actinic light. The bulb that comes with it is a 14K got it for under $100 so I couldn't pass it up and its brand new.
