Serpant star has come out in the middle of the day and over the course of three days every one of the tips of his legs has broken off. Just witnessing the last one. The only crab I have is an electric blue hermit crab. And he wasn't anywhere near the serpant just now:confused: Now I have read they will do this when they are stressed?

What is your salinity, and how stable is your salinity?

Also what is your nitrate level?

A low salinity or a changing salinty or high nitrate can cause problems like this.

how long have you had it? How old is your tank and how big is the tank?

I would try to give it some meaty food...place a piece under one of its legs and see if he will move it to his mouth to eat. I try to stick a piece of krill into my serpents hiding spot to feed him.

With him coming out in the middle of the day I actually think he is starving...I had a sandsifter star do that in my old tank.....but he would arch up on all his legs to go fishing!
